Dermatology
Dermatology has a long history of specialization in Chinese medicine. During the times of Confucius and the late Warring States (2nd the 3rd centuries BCE), medicine was organized into four groups: Dietician, Veterinarian, Internal Medicine, and Dermatology. Classical Chinese medical diagnosis is modeled on climatic factors and the concepts of Wind, Heat, Dampness, Dryness, Blood Heat and Fire Toxins are especially useful for understanding skin conditions. Not only do they clarify their disease progressions but they point directly to the correct choice of herbal treatment. Acne, Eczema, Psoriasis, hives, shingles and many other dermatological conditions are successfully treated with acupuncture and customized Chinese herbs.
The photos below show progression of improvements:
Healing in progress. A patient suffering from the Hailey-Hailey disease with the armpits and groin area worstly affected. These pictures show his progress in the first two weeks:
Notice the large inflamed area, the coloration, and the cracking on the skin.
The inflamed area is much reduced. The coloration improved and the cracks in the skin mostly healed. It’s not unusual for dermatological problems to take weeks to stabilize and five to eight months to cure. It’s not a short process but possible with acupuncture and herbal treatment.
